    Another ZXI Trim question

Another ZXI Trim problem 96 900 ZXI

Mine was was covered in rust powder really bad when I opened it. I took all the wires and unplugged the connectors to clean them as best I could and put dielectric grease on them. It didn't fix it.

My question is, what exactly goes wrong once water gets in there. The motor? maybe another component? Any help would be appreciated. Is there anything else that can be tried? In regards to the wires that have connectors in them middle. I pulled most of them apart but there are a few that don't appear to come apart. Am I wrong or should I just pull?

The motor could be bad, or the regulator; or both. The regulator counts the number of revolutions and turns the motor off at the end of the cable travel. I believe you can buy individual parts, now. At one time, you had to buy the entire unit.

Make sure you seal the box well when you put it back together, also, make sure there is a rubber bellows at the end of the cable to keep water out. If not, you can get one for an Ultra 150.

I put jumper wires from the battery to the plug on the motor and nothing happened. I reversed the polarity and again nothing happened. I'm guessing the motor is burned up. Any ideas if I'm missing something?

Yep, it's toast. You might be able to take it apart and clean the brushes.

Make sure you seal the box up real good to keep water out. Also, get the cable boot that they put on the Ultra 150s to keep water from creeping up the cable into the box.
