Selling prop gauges (pics and info)

Hi everyone, I received a lot of PMs over the last week asking if I would be making any prop gauges as seen in my “how to measure a prop tutorial” video. I got approval from Jerry and I will be making them starting today. The cost is 42$ shipped in the US. I already have some international orders to the UK and those are priced on a case by case basis. I have kept the price as low as possible so that you, the buyer, gets the best deal possible.

These gauges are constructed of high quality polymethyl methacrylate which is virtually indestructible. The polymethyl methacrylate is cut on a band saw to ensure clean straight cuts and then is heat rolled to 155mm. Each gauge is handmade and is test fitted on a master gauge to ensure proper fit. These will fit all 155-160mm props. The polymethyl methacrylate is flexible so it will hug the prop perfectly. The actual gauges are then applied to the polymethyl methacrylate with 3M high strength clear tape. It is also worth noting that these gauges are flexible so they fit 160mm props and seadoo props fine.

Heat rolling these gauges is a very meticulous process. Too hot and the air in the polymethyl methacrylate will bubble to the surface and wreck the gauge. Too cool and the polymethyl methacrylate will bounce back to its original shape. (see pics below)

You will receive two gauges with every order. One gauge for the leading edge (8-16 degrees) and one gauge for the trailing edge (17-25 degrees).

I am very anal regarding quality so rest assured, you are receiving the upmost quality. Each gauge will do exactly what it is meant to do which is measure a prop… no more, no less. You will get EXACTLY what you see below.

PM me for orders! Paypal only!

Orders for South East Queensland, Australia.

    Hi Mike,

    Any idea on lead times?

I'll take 5 x sets please (I'll PM you as well). This'll be perfect for the different sizes of props around the place.

To the SEQ gang, pm me and we'll share the cost of freight if you want one.

    Dean

Update: I am no longer using polycarbonate (lexan) for the prop gauge material for a few reasons... It takes over 35 minutes to properly heat up a single gauge, it is very very difficult to heat up without air trapped inside bubbling up to the surface, and it is harder to roll properly because of how strong it is (100x stronger than glass).

I am now using polymethyl methacrylate for the prop gauges because it takes 10 minutes to heat, air does not bubble up at all, and it is extremely easy to roll.

What does this mean for you? Everyone who has ordered will be receiving the new polymethyl methacrylate gauges because the quality is much higher. Polymethyl methacrylate is the better choice for this application because of its malleable qualities. The polymethyl methacrylate are still extreamly strong and will not break.

Like I said before..... I will only put my name on something if it is perfect, I don't settle for 2nd best. So rest assured, your gauges are top notch!

also- if anyone wants some pre-cut lexan blanks I have a bunch. You will have to roll it yourself though. PM if interested.

I've used the Watcon Pitch Guage but it doesn't fit over my 161mm prop on Bigpig. I haven't checked if they make a bigger one.
    Yours should fit different sizes.
Hence the reason for getting yours Mike.

***I've got 5 from SEQ ordered so far,

    when is your cutoff date?

    When is excepted delivery?

I believe the watcon gauges are a full circle where as my gauges are 3/4 of a circle so they can flex considerbly but they always bounce back to their 155mm size.

As of now there is no cutoff date but I suggest ordering earlier than later because there are many orders ahead of you.
If I ship monday you will have it in 6-10 days. For international shipping USPS is typically the cheapest. I priced it out and its about 65$ for USPS and 206$ for UPS...
