2010 RXTX Loss of steering control

The other day while cruising at 50-60 mph in 1-2 foot chop I suddenly felt like it was not responding to my input. I slowed down and realized I had no steering. It would turn left, but had no control to right. If accelerated it would straighten out somewhat. After some tricky manuvering I got it back to launch ramp and out of water. I found the steering cable moving freely in and out of rear tunnel. The cable housing, anchors into a cable adapter, which screws into the hull. It broke off flush with hull. There is no bellows on inside of hull sealing cable to hull, so you also start taking on water, not good.I was lucky I was close to shore. The cable adapter is new to s3 hull, I feel a weak and poor design. Hopefully my parts will be in tomorrow and I can get it back together. By the way, this is my first post. I have been a member for 5 or 6 years, but dont like to type. Im to slow.

Sea doo has been using hat basic style set-up for years. Had the same thing happen to a couple different ski's but they usually go after they get old and brittle.

WOW mine(steering) got stuck on Sunday for a bit. I thought it was just sand/stone laying in nozzle area since I was beached for a couple of hours. I'm gonna keep an eye on it.

yes, but the 2009 is 255 model, which is the same as 2010 rxtx set up uses a 3 inch cable adapter that the cable nut and half rings go into. take a look at oem parts and compare to rxt- gtx etc.

I see what you are saying. Same crappy design except the older models diddn't use an adapter as it is part of the pump shoe. It's usually the not that breaks.

I did take a picture, but I will have to ask my son how to do that. If you go to oem parts link at top page, click on 2009 is 255, click on steering cable, its part #6 cable adapter, that piece screws into hull, o ring seal in between adapter and hull.

I plan on gluing to hull where o- ring would normally go
