GPS'd both of my skis today
Semi choppy water both skis with full tanks of gas 190lb rider
97 XP - 51.3mph
97 SPX - 53.0mph
The SPX cavitates extremely bad right now, i'm thinking wear ring but I won't know anything until tomorrow.
The XP I thought ran good, usually I would walk away from the SPX on it but I don't know. I expected 53mph or so out of it because my buddies runs that.
2 97 XP's - Mine was 51.3, buddies was 53.8 (He's roughly 40lbs lighter?)
1 96? HX - 51.xmph
1 97 SPX - 53.0 I was very happy considering how bad it cavitates
1999 Kawasaki Ultra 150 - 62.xmph
The other XP went 53.xmph (His ski is a little faster than mine, not sure why although he's about 40lbs lighter than I)
The HX went 51.x
The other HX out with us, steadily pulled away from me and the Kawasaki Ultra 150 with us just flat out put a bus length or 2 on us.
So I guess the question is: Are my 2 skis running roughly what they should or is sum ting wong? I'm about a month into owning them and slowly fixing items as I find them, figure out what they are and how they work, etc....
I do not have tachs on the skis - the XP is a very hard to start ski, I need to figure that out. 25 seconds to finally get it going (roughly)

sounds like a wear ring on the SPX for sure...that is the same as my 96XP and it runs 59mph GPS. The newer XP's are a bit off. I think that they went 55 but im not too sure. As for the HX thats about spot on for a 720. What is on the other HX? pipe? 787 conversion? as for the hard starting I would rebuild the carbs. you have a leaky needle and seat...when they are stuck open or closed this happens

Thanks for the insight.
Both of the HX's are completely stock - it could have been on one of my slower runs that the HX pulled away from me. My 97 Xp dipped all the way down to 49mph, had a run of 51.3, etc... was just on and off. I have work to do, i'm aware of this, I was just trying to find out if I was close to what they should be running or not.
59 with a 96 XP - that's very encouraging even tho top speed is not my goal with the skis. I just want to know that they're running correctly.
