thinking of dumping my ultra 260x for an f-15x

i bought my ultra last winter, and put a stereo on it before it even hit the water. I got a milkshake in the ski at about 19hrs, it sometimes is hard to start, my friend broke the hood off and i have been waiting on parts since 8/12. i have put 24 hours on this ski, and 45 on my 96 wave venture so far this summer. i think im done with kawi. im not crazy about the fx sho. i do love the ultra when it is running however, the way it just slams thru chop. i ride in the long island sound, so there is always chop. how are the hondas in the chop? how is the reliability? has anyone ridden both skis and can give a comparision? also, a bunch of my friends have ultra 250s, and one just dropped a valve, and pretty much all of the other ones are having problems or not running at this time. i think the person who has the most hours on their ultra who rides with us has 80 hours. it seems like after 75 hours the ultras are junk.
so tell me about the f-15x!

I have a friend with a 15X and it is rock solid reliable and eats big chop almost as good as the Ultra. It gets twice the gas mileage of the Ultra and launches like a RPG.

I think twice the fuel ecomomy may be an exaggeration.

Sorry, but those numbers are all wrong. Liters per hour? what rpm range are they at? it sounds like maybe you have numbers for one ski at a certain speed and other skis at a different speed. The honda f12x and stx-15f are almost the same at WOT. Your stats show that the f15x does even better than the f12x. NO WAY!

I never said he did. His statement was that the stx-15f burns close to 3 times more fuel than the f-15x. I said that the stx-15f is almost dead on with the f-12x (the 15f does better than the honda 12x) in terms of fuel comsumption at WOT (I've owned both). So there is no way that the larger f-15x is better than the f-12x. Also, I am not sure what FXHO (09 or new, 08 or older) he is referring to, but the older FXHO burns less than the F-12x at WOT. He lists the F-15x (being a larger ski in size and displacement and 40 or so HP more than the f-12x) as more fuel efficient than the FXHO, which is also inaccurate.

    Honda F12X GPSCape
    3.1gph @ 35mph / 12.2gph @ 60mph

    Kawi STX-15F
    3.7gph @ 35mph / 10.5gph @ 63mph

    Yamaha FX HO
    4.5gph @ 35mph / 10.8gph @ 60mph (the 09 and newer burn appr 14 gph at WOT)

    Sea Doo RXP
    6.4 @ 35mph / 15.9gph @ 67mph

If you can find one, the f-15x is a fantastic ski. Great rough water ski.

what's the source? i agree with booey on all of this but I thought the fxho was as fuel efficient as the honda at midrange rpm. Just from feedback from owners, no data
