    Question for the turbo guys...

I am wanting to build a turbo rxp 07 model. Can i use a turbo on standard bottom end with standard compression ratio??? Will it produce to much backpressure? Im only looking to boost around 17 to 18 psi max with a small t3.

on a standard s/c engine you can, and if running higher rpm fit valve retainers most have run up to 20psi on a stock motor its all about getting the fuel system right as leaning them out is what kills them!

No problem on the stock engine atal they are real strong as long as the fuel is correct, as J said.

You have to be carefull on the stock intake mani as they split at anything much above 20psi but I have heard of them going lower then that.

I would personally go with the Riva ECU a set of the bosch 50s and a RRFPR, the fuel controller would be better then a RRFPR but more complicated. I say the Riva as it would seem they are very easy to tune with for the REC rider that wants a fast boat but without the hassel of the more dedicated race ECUs

That will see you up to 17-18psi easy.

You will need to run a ECU as there is no way that you would be able to get a prop big enough to keep 17-18psi at 8100 also fuel tuning for that sort of boost on the stock ECU is complicated as you will need the big injectors for uptop but then need to get allot of fuel off the bottom to get good idle, mid range and throttle response.

I would prob shoot for a Garret GT2871R with a low A/R exhaust housing as this is nice and small so you wont get too much lag and it will easy make the boost you want. That turbo is rated for something like 400hp. R88

Thanks for the response guys. I realise you have to fuel them correct, i was planning on running a riva ecu and a frp as i have read that they are easy to tune. Maybe even a rude controller ill see how i go. I was wanting to keep the closed loop beacause i ride a lot in salt water, what are u turbo guys doing to the cooling system to keep closed loop and run the turbo.???

Hope that it holds up! Think most run open loop.

I'm doing a turbo setup and staying closed loop.

I Added a 30 plate heat exchanger and relocated the reservoir to the front. It's not done yet so I'll try to post completed pics soon.

Wish I would have thought of this. The F***ing coolant bottle is always in the way.
