    95 GTX 657X issues

A buddy of mine has a 1995 GTX seadoo with a 657X motor. He brought it to me in pieces, big mistake to take on this project. Heres the deal: Brand new fuel valve, new fuel lines, carbs rebuilt using a 1.5 n/s, rotary valve blade set at 147 and inline fuel filter.

Problem: Took a while for the fuel to go through the lines, then the ski starts up and runs. Idles great on the trailer, ran good on the hose, took to the water and it won't run. Took it out of the water and could not get it to fire up again. Used some starter fluid and got it to start back up. Put back in water, ski would run, but had to give it throttle the entire time or it would die. Sometimes you could pull it wide open and it would just idle.
I've checked everything, but its been a long long time since I missed with a carbed ski and I am at my wits end. Anybody have any ideas what it could be?

might have an air leak on the rotary valve cover, was the o-ring new or used?
also the carburetor might have been rebuilt wrong, you should be able to hold 5 psi of pressure on the pulse line,
and also hold pressure on the return fitting. Pop off might be off, but it sounds like it could be the carb.

Have you checked for good hot spark?

Carbs were rebuilt correctly, I even used the paper diagram they send you with the rebuild kit. Valve cover has a used oring but was in very good shape. Hmmm, guess I should check the popoff on the carbs, whats the pop off for a 657x motor?

Hey Shooter, the RV duration on a 657x GTX is 159* not 147. Opening is 147* and closing is 65* both +/- 5*. Maybe thats your problem?? It's not an air leak, that would cause it to rev up on its own. I've re used the RV oring and had no probs.

Did you check to make sure the fuel pump side is holding pressure correctly and not leaking out?? Both check valves put in the fuel block?
