wtf happened?? can I save this engine??

I have no idea. I kinda got screwed on this ski. guy swore up and down it just needed a starter and he had it checked out blah blah blah. i just want this thing running.

    ski: 2004 ultra 150
anyway, pulled the motor out and started teardown. pulled the heads off and look what i found

    pulled off the exhaust

I have no idea what it is. gravel? the first cyl is wet. the other two are dry as a bone and cylinders loaded with like a sand material.

I think the only goodthing is the case/cylinders arent cracked

    thanks guys
    Kevin

No. Crank will be gone too.

    Cheaper to get another engine.

Sorry but some people just lie through thier teeth!

classic case of salt water ingestion and then letting the motor sit.
Crank, pistons, rings will be shot. Hard parts should clean up (heads, cases, exhaust, intake etc etc). Cylinders you won't know until you pull the jugs off and check the bore.

On another note...We have a saying locally that if a seller says a ski "just needs a starter" then it really needs a "motor"...
    sorry to hear man!

let me refrase after looking closer at the pics.....hard parts "may" clean up. Some of them look pretty ugly.
That "gravel" is salt residue and sand.

Personally speaking, I would stay as far away from SBT motors as possible.....

^ I know I hear stories but Im not racing the ski. it has very minor mods and its they have a pretty good warranty.

has nothing to do with racing....has more to do with reliability. But either way....good luck.

SBT, then sell it. Be more careful when you buy the next one!
