    I need a tuff hull

Hey everyone, I ride the great lakes often and after 11 years I need to find something that will hold up to the abuse that I give it. I have a 1999 SLTX and I did some repair to it twice and it just wont hold up to the pounding it gets. I need some advice or a place to take it to in Michigan to get this issue fixed. Thanks

I've been riding Lake Michigan for years and it can get very rough. I've been on 10 footers but when its choppy or I launch off a big wave it hits hard. I need something strong. Or maybe cut out a bigger area and glass matt it with more layers

Not trying to be mean, but I don't think the hull is weak. I would think a 10ft+ flat fall could break any hull. Make sure you stay on the gas until you are airborne. That will make the tail end hit first, giving you much nicer landing.

I could be completely wrong, because I have no knowledge of SLTX's.

EDIT: If you can't master landing ride plate first, get a 2000-2001 GPR. J-ME (post #20) in this thread took a sledge hammer to a GPR hull.... no cracks.

you can always coat the bottom with that spray on truck bed liner...that will slow you a bit but its indestructable

+1 for the GPR.... it's a damn tough hull. The should be making the new Yamis out of SMC.

I've thought about laying a carbon fiber/kevlar hybrid on a GPR hull... more for looks than strength, but it would be bulletproof, lol.

I agree I hate it when they try to mess with success and screw it up. These new Nano hulls appear weak.

There is some irony in the GPR hull. Strongest hull, but the pump tunnel is known to fail...

Most likely no, but I'm pretty sure it has happened before. The supplies to reinforce the pump tunnel aren't that expensive and it gives you peace of mind. If you buy a used from this site, chances are the previous owner will have already done it.

Another thing to look at, if you're serious about getting a GPR, is the D-Plate. The cat in the stinger usually fails and could possibly grenade the engine. D-plate plus temp sensor is like $110 on 4tecperformance. Plus... you get to use any TC-W3 approved oil with the D-Plate. Again.... this is something that almost every GPR owner on this site does.

If you buy a GPR from the greenhulk classifieds, you should be good to go for both of these issues.
