1999 XP Limited 951 turns over very slowly, ideas

I've dipped cleaned and inspected my carburetors...

    Got fuel flow...

    Got spark...

    Got 12.6 volts DC...

Got very slow turning over of the engine. Sometimes the first try of the day, it'll spin faster but not long enough to fire, yet.

I'm thinking about replacing the starter motor?

Thanks in advance for your reply,
    Johnny Glass

Well a fully charged batt. should be at 13.5 or real close to it. I would make sure my cables are good battery is fully charged and doesn't have a cell going out first. Once I had all that checked out I might see how it cranked over by crossing the battery cables at the solenoid. You may even be able to get away with just replacing the brushes in the starter. If needed.

remove your pump and inspect it you could have a seized bearing. try turning the engine with the pump removed,
also remove the spark plugs and see if you can turn the engine by hand, if you cant, then the problem is not your starter, something else is jammed.

    ground cable.

to test, take a jumper cable from the negative on the battery to somewhere clean on the motor. if it turns better, replace the ground cable.

it could also be a weak starter, but check if you have some external drag such ask bad pump bearings or midshaft bearing seize

    Quick updated...

Replaced my battery and it spins over much better...

The previous owner submerged this engine, I'd hoped to be able to bring it back to life.

I've got just 60 lbs. compression so it's going to get a rebuild.

Thank you all for your help. I think it's going to be this years off season project!
