steering cable question
I recently purchased a 2006 rxp seadoo and when I got it the steering was stiff. I went ahead and purchased a new cable from sbt. When we installed the new cable it felf like butter wasnt quit as smooth as my buddies but it was smooth. Well after two trips to the water with not more than 2 hours of time on the cable it is semi stiff again. I have checked the cable for binds, kinks, stuck in a cranny etc all is well there. I disconnected it from pump still binding, bump the nozzle swings back and forth like a dream. I can hear the sound of bind in the cable itself? My question is why is the cable to crap after very little use??

Check your OPAS (steering fins on each side) sometimes that will make your steering bind (stiff) in one direction or even both. I removed mine and installed blockoffs and now have smooth steering all the time.

no opas I have since taken the cable off and if its totally straight outside the ski its decent the minute you bend the cable any at all it's bindie. I should have got the original seadoo cable but settled for the sbt cable hope this dont hurt??

Well I had the cable sent back to SBT, The whole steering system is out of ski taken apart and completely greased and smooth like butter. Its gonna be hard to get that metal to metal feel out of it(Cable). Riva and others said the newest revision of the seadoo cable is of smaller diameter for water intrusion reasons and others. Sbt said there's no warranty on there cables except maunfactuer's defect??? Well we will see lol shame shame
