    Grrr, WTH

So, my dad picked up a 98 XP limited two days ago,

After new gas, fuel selector cleaned, new oil. She started, took to lake and wouldint go past 5k rpms

Took it home, cleaned carbs(FILLED with crap, accel pump froze)

So after all this i get it running nice, put it on hose.

Start ski, run and turn hose on. 15 seconds later motor stalls and is flooded with water! :O

I used the long spout coming on the right side, half water pressure.

So i cleaned it up. made sure everything was, correct. got it running off the hose.

Made sure ski was perfectly straight,

and turned water on VERY little and started. Water started coming out the water outlet on left side. and bam stalled again with water in engine!

Wth can i be doing wrong here?

It doesnt take water in on the lake. but cant run on the hose!

    your starting it wrong....

ski on,water on.....water off, ski off

in that order, rightnow you are loading up the pipe and head and water is being forced into the cylinders

Perhaps cooling hoses aren't routed properly ?

Check both the 98 and 99 manuals. Cooling hose routing is shown differently. 98 water goes in pipe, manifold, cylinder and out head. 99-01 water goes in head, cylinders, manifold, and out exhaust pipe jacket. Water inject to the pipe is shown at a different port on exhaust pipe too.

Post pics of the cooling set up.

Water Worx, did all 98's come the same as 99+? The 98 manual is definately different.

The water on 951s should enter the head first.

Damn, I didn't mean to suggest routing it like the 98 manual and my post isn't clear. I agree with water worx use 99+. Pay attention to the water injector routing, I think the 98 diagram is wrong, but I don't have the manuals on this machine.

I just checked, the regulator supply and injector lines are swapped pg 154 of the pdf. use the diagram in the 99 + manual.

the 98 manual is incorrect. as said above use the 99+ routing.
