    Almost there * FIXED**

Well, finially i got my father 1998 XPL running right. After had a few mishaps with water hose!

So Went through carbs again, cleaned everything up.

Starts up no choke, idles at 1500 in water 3000 on trailer.

Feels VERY VERY snappy blips of throttle prove to launch it great! But thats were the fun stops, As soon as it gets to 5500 rpms it just acts as if thats were it suppose to run WOT.

It has all stock jetting, stock intake. .25mm over pistons. I swapped Rave valves from MY 00 XP which were almost brand new(Since im waiting to rebuild mine with dan)

    Still only turned 5500 rpms!

Compression does show a little low, both cylinders at 120 ( 120- 122)

But i have a hard time seeing thats the issue, as it feels GREAT at anything below 5500rpms!

If you didint know these skis were suppose to rev to 7ISH k you wouldint know theres an issue!

Ive tried new plugs, gapped to .020 per manual Br8es

OEM carbs for this year had

    80 Low speed jets
    160 Main jets
Low speed needle at 1.5 turns
High speed needles 0 PTO 1/4

    accel pump is working great.

New raves valves with NO air leaks.

Please ANY ideas throw them out there!

i think the water pressure regulator is dumping too much water on the midpipe at high rpm.
you might want to check if its not punctured or its leaking.

the water pressure regulator is located on top of the waterbox.

I find all these things broken! And non improve performance!

have you checked if the rave valve solenoid is even opening them? ride with the rave caps off and the spring off and see if the RPM go up/

Ok, so ride with the caps off, should they bounce? Is there a fuse for it?

no fuse to it, its controlled by the MPEM
remove the solenoid and test it with a battery if it works you should hear it click

ride with the caps off the valve should be opened up. (if they are not gunked up)
on peak rpm the solenoid closes and fills the rave valves with air coming from the engine case.
this causes the raves to open up.

RXP127 had a soilenoid for sale cheap give him a buzz.
