    Crash scene

Good friends John and Lonny took me out to the crash scene today. Very cool to be back on the water but going back to the scene really didn't help me much.

I see what happend and why but really don't see how to prevent in future, Airboat was WFO around blind curve and I was lucky to have options. After seeing how John drives around al these blind corners I can see how it could have been avoided.

It is was it it is and I've avoided such accident for 15 years so I guess I should be happy.

Yeah... we really have to think about risk vs reward in blind turns like that. It is A LOT of fun to fly through them, but you really never know what is on the other side.

When I go fast through them I always just stick to the right side and hope other boaters are wise enough to do the same.

Most of the airboaters are my friends believe it or not. The guy that ran me ashore was not a regular and just the way it goes. More disappointed in the FWC then anybody.

I bet it was a strange feeling. So you beached the ski? For some reason I envisioned you were in a mango swamp and made my skin crawl to think of entering that tangle. Glad to see your somewhat out and about.

First picture shows the blind right hand turn. In the second picture right before the airboat is where I made the right hander onto shore at WOT to avoid the oncoming airboat that was sideways and taking up the whole river. Ski shot into the weeds 100'+ and I went along side for about 75'. Had to slide myself out on my back to the edge to be seen by other boaters. Heard 2 boats go by while I was dragging myself out.

Glad you're still here and able to tell the story. That must have been one helluva ride!
