I would board up and go. After riding it out the eyes jeanne and francis last year I would not want to stay. It was very scary.
My six year old daughter loved it though. She got to sleep in the master bedroom closet! And didnt have school for a week after each. Of course she didnt have power either.
Just got my accordian hurricane shutters installed last week. I shut them when Katrina came over here but it was really not much. It unexpectedly passed south and we just got some tropical storm winds. Cat 3 or 4 is very very danergous, especially if it is only moving at 7 mph like it is now.

Hey Hulk! We're down here in FL right where Charlie made landfall at Charlotte Harbor. He made an unexpected turn and plowed right across us. That was scary. And with Katrina being so strong, you should truly being getting the hell out of dodge!!! Now for a note on the other hand. Finally got a magic prop from RaceTech and now my boat is running at 8450 RPM and 74-76 MPH

This is NOT good. Looks like a direct hit on New Orleans. This is the "big one" they always feared. Im 60 miles west of New Orleans so we are definatley in its outer wind bands. We have decided to wait it out last minute (let this traffic clear) then head west another 60 miles to Lafayette. I have friends there so plenty of places to crash.... there are no more hotel rooms

Jerry, the traffic won't get ANY better before it hits!!!!!!!! if your gonna go leave now and bring gas, the stations will be low or out along the way. I also went through jeanne, and francis last year, and my ex- GFU tried to leave the day before, and it was stop and go packed . they ended up turning around and coming back because they couldn't get any where. I rode them out and not too fun as cat 3 storms. power was out for a full week, but we had generators and window ac units.Stock up on the gas!!

Jerry, get the hell out of there. I am watching the news and they just said the brunt of the storm is going to hit Morgan City. There are hurricane force winds 85 miles away from the eye and tropical storm force winds 185 miles from the eye. This thing is HUGE.
