Help removing intake grate
Hi all. A few months ago I started a post asking how to fix my ride plate. It came lose and my two brass inserts were spinning in the pump shoe. To do a quick fix for the up comming weekend I used JB weld to put the brass inserts back in. I was advised by many that this would not hold but as I only wanted to get it back in the water for the weekend it didn't matter. Well here it is a couple of months later and the JB weld is still holding tight. The problem now is I can't get the grate off. Can I heat it with a blow torch or does anyone have a better idea? I just got a Jim's ride plate and I thought I would like to get in on before winter so I could try it out before the season ends.

High temp Heat gun usually does the trick.

Someone here mentioned using a soldering iron on the bolts.

When I first installed the grate I used JB weld to fill the holes. When it popped out the bolts stayed inside the brass inserts. I just glued the inserts back in with the bolt already attached. I guess I could chisle away at the JB weld around the bolt heads and try to unscrew them. I just thought that since the brass inserts were stripped I could just pull them out again.
