    Motec or Autronics?

    Which ECU is better for the Seadoo's? Any pro's or con's with each unit?

    Any feedback would be good, thanks in advance.

    From my experience, I would run whichever gave you the best support. I ran autronics and found that there weren't that many individuals who actually supported it in the United States. I guess it depends where you're located. Motec makes some really nice equipment. Best of luck.

    As far as the Autronics is concerned I think it depends on the application, for a normal S/C engine package an Autronic SM4 with one of Les' adapters is fine, the difference to a re-flash isn't massive but the ECU's ability to "recover" on the RPM limited is the biggest advantage. We have run stock & open class RXP-X's with both and there is a difference but not massive.

    For a high boost turbo application the SM4 used in conjunction with an external CDI is awesome due to the higher spark energy that can be run, this does involve adapting the Autronic wiring harness to the OEM one that takes some time & experience but the advantage in "anti-lag" programing is worth it IMHO.

    I seen one of them on Bushells boat for the world finals, looks like a nice piece to me. Very good idea considering the environment they have to work in and the cost of the ECU.

    On a turbocharged engine Autronic would be the best!!! i m using it on mone and it's just awesome!!!

    +1 Currently there is far more Autronics SM4 maps out there although MoTec will come along and it is supposed to be more user friendly right now for the seadoo talk to Les Cooke at seadoo centre about your needs and im sure he will help find a solution. R88

    These have been available from SDC (Les) for about 12 months now, very nice piece.

    With the billet marine case & knock control the SM4 is pretty dam good. (As I am sure the MoTeC is a s well).
    A good friend of mine did tonnes of development with MoTeC for the SHO platform & speaks VERY highly of them as well.

    All about support, we get great support from Autronic & Les so we use that.

    As I have said many times before, the numbers in the tables & the person putting them there is WAYYYY more important than the decal on the alloy box with the wires hanging out of it.

    I have a Motec and from a performance stand point it can make your boat go very fast ! The product is very flexible and a lot of controls for the tuner that just work. Don't know what adjustments are available with the Autotronics but the rev limiter on Motec is extremely flexible and this is one of those racing secrets to a fast boat in the chop ! It is sick how much speed I can carry in rough water.
