Trans in RXP? Need help with go fast project

Hi Everyone, I own a PWC repair business at the lake of the ozarks. Its been a good year in the repair business. So a good friend of mine are going to do some crazy stuff with our ski's. Sean owns a 04 RXP 215 he has Vortex Impeller, thru hull exaust, 4" air intake, and a Solas impeller (I dont know the the pitch) he is going a honest 73 MPH (GPS). He is wanting to rebuild the engine (it has 200hrs on it) and throw on some more parts. But he has a dream on putting in a trans in his ski. We are doing are R&D and trying to make it work. Now I'm sure someone else has tried this- Why is it not advertized more?

Now for Me (Tad) I have a few choices, I have a 04 MSX110 that I picked up for a grand and I have a 2001 GP1200R that is in a million peices. I want to make on of them hual azz. Now I think the GPRXP is sweet but I need a 1503 engine, were I live we don't see these engine just laying around. So I am in need of some advise/help. Anything anyone can do would be helpful

gprxp would def be the way to go. forget the trans but a good idea would be to somehow gear the charger differently on the 04 rxp to get the charger to spin faster

I've had a think about how to do the trans idea and the only way I see that is possible in the confined space is a CVT style transmission... Should be no worries with the right hydraulics and belt tension.

A transmission will not help a PWC ... please read this post(especially the last couple pages), it was discussed in detail a long time ago.

were not planing on using a CVT Trans style, Were building a trans from scratch. I'll get you all some more details later on. Quick question were going to have to move the engine forward. I have my ideas about a new tank but what about the fuel pump. are there anyother opions out there.

    Vern- thanks for the info

If you build a new gastank, why not just drop the oem pump back in?? Like I did on my build...

    Trond! I love the craftsmanship!

I've been thinking more about this project...

You might want to consider going turbo too (if you haven't already)...
Reason: You can use the wastegate actuator to get your target boost, and in the end more TORQUE, which is what you will really need.

If you run SC, say you're running 15 psi @ 8000 rpm, shift gear, now 6000 rpm... Your boost will be below 10 psi and you may not have enough torque to spin that impeller fast enough... Its a dramatization but this may become an issue later down the track once testing.... But I guess you can always go turbo at a later stage, maybe just keep enough room in there for all the pipe work.

With the right turbo you should have no problem being on your target boost at 6000 rpm or higher.... Although I've never played with a turbo ski before so I wouldn't know for sure...

Torque may become your greatest issue....

What sort of ratios are you looking at running?

    1:1
    then
    0.75:1
    ?
