Well, the pump only pulls from one place (via two pipes) and that is the oil pan. Head gasket comes to mind for one.

I think if the cam cap comes off it will cause you to lose oil pressure. I'm trying to confirm this now. I only know of one other person who has seen a cam cap come off.

That should be true as the head feeds the cams and that cap seals a hole in the cam length which feeds oil to the rest of the cam and buckets. So, pressure would drop due to lack of resistance and significantly drop or go away completely for the cam as it wold be pouring out the end of the cam. The only positive being that the cap came off the cam end opposite of where the oil comes in. Still, not a good thing at all.

Right. And if oil was pouring out of the cam, couldn't that have been related to oil spewing out the breather kit? I would think it could.

With all of the that oil coming out around that end of the head (The same area of the breather outlet) Yep, not much of a stretch to see some oil being blown that way and/or sucked that way.
