215 hp Speedster 150 Buying Questions

    Hi -

I am selling my 2007 Yamaha FX HO and am considering picking up a 215 speedster 150.

After searching the Seadoo forums for a bit, it seems that anything super charged is a maintenance queen that requires rebuilds and money.

I am looking at a few 2007 speedsters. The owners state they have never had an issue or required rebuilds. Nothing other than normal maintenance has been done. They did not know the answer to what washers are in the blower. This leads me to beleive they are still ceramic.

Many posts on here state these engines are time bombs. Is this just a case of a known issue that has been over documented online?

Should I steer completely clear of these boats?

The washers in a 2007 boat would definitely be ceramic. It took them longer to switch the boats than the pwc.

I was debating between the 215hp supercharged or the 155hp n/a and decided to go with the 155hp model mainly because 155's seem to be allot more reliable then the supercharged model!! Surprisingly the 155 has enough power and speed for my liking.

Defintely not over documented, they will fail and cause a full engine removal and rebuild. The supercharger would need to be pulled out and the washers changed over to metal ones if you purchased an 07. Washers are $100, $50 and Jerry will change them plus shipping costs. Under a $200 upgrade. Just be very sure the washers have never exploded on the boat you are looking at. It is a very detailed repair process, and if it wasn't fixed correctly after a failure it can lead to problems later.

    Thanks Guys.

Whatever I decide to go with will get a pre purchase inspection done at a dealership.
