    Can it be posible...?

Just thinking out loud here.....I was wondering, since water goes in and out of the intercooler, I dont know how so maybe what Im thinking its not possible but here goes......Can it be possible to put a water pump of some sort and a few gallon reservoir inside the hull and fill it up with 100% methanol and have the pump system flow it through the intercooler instead of water and recirculate it back to the reservoir....As we all know methanol is a lot colder than water. On my 1.8T Jetta intake charge was drastically reduced to the point that I did not even need an intercooler. My point being that it will cool the intake charge MUCH better than water.

Can it be possible? How would it be done in the real world? Can the water line that goes to in IC be blocked off permanently?

Very possible. And if your looking for speed runs,,,,fantastic idea. I wouldn`t cause I like jumping waves but for flat water,,,you would be on the right track. And use the xpower intercooler. The fuel charge would probably be frosted.

Weight would be the trade off.

On that line of thinking, does anyone use dry ice and pack their IC in it?

Im looking for a more "all the time" kinda thing. Dry ice would melt and you would not have gains, and the prop pitch would be useless.

As far as weight, I dont know how many gallons would be needed but I dont think a 3 gallon reservoir would weigh that much and the performance gains would top it off.

In flat water this would be awsome. I think you`ve come up with the "next BIG thang".

Also, how corrosive is methanol to aluminum? Would never need to worry about a water leak in the cooler anymore either.

the water line cannot be blocked off permanently. You would have to route it direct to the exhaust for exhaust cooling.
