    03 vs 04 Rideplate

What are the differences between the 03 and 04 MSX ride-plates? Can an 03 be machined to an 04? Anyone have some pics side by side?

    Hi Beerdart

I beleive the 03 rideplate on my conversion ski has been modified to 04 specifications. I compared the angle with a sliding square to my 04 model and it was the same.
You can see in the picture where it has been welded, I am guessing a cut has been made the angle adjusted and welded back up. Lookoing from underneath you can't tell the only give away is the weld on top.

Someone withe more experience may be able to confirm my suspicions.

    I hope this helps

    Cheers

    Steve,
I don't have any side by side pics, but the 04 plate has an extra 4mm upkick at the rear.

Is there a difference in the lengths of the 'flat bottom' portions behind the intake grate?

    I don't mean overall length.

I mean the portion up to where the plate 'changes angle' up towards the rear.

They are the same length, from where the angle changes. They are 5 inches from the top of the angle to the end.

I have an extra 03 plate I am going to mill the mounting surface to angle the plate as much as possible. I will also mill the bottom of the stator, wedge and nozzle for the rideplate angle clearance I may also have to pocket out the plate for clearance. How much angle do you think I can get??
