This information may not be of any help to you however, Polaris makes an adapter that allows you to use an 8 pin MFD on a newer 12 pin harness. This has nothing to do with the round MFD but it might give you some more options with your current setup.

I have never seen the connector on the newer mfd's, but couldn't you just swap the pins out or solder the wires together?

It certainly is not a direct connection as the grounds, power supplies etc, are different. Now if you come by a connector that fits the MFD you want to use and then splice into your original harness, you can get it done.
Be sure you are acurate the very first time or you could turn your MFD into junk. be sure to heat shrink your connections as you don't want a water intrusion issue in the wiring harness.
I'm looking for a 99 wiring diagram so I can mount it into my SLTX right now, I'll make it work as long as I find the wiring scematics I need.

Let me know if it works, I have a 12 pin MFD that is in great shape, that I would like to sell. Do you know where I can get an adapter?

I have what you need for that mfd, Or I'll trade you a good 8-pin for it.

Be careful, even with the adapter some power/grounds/signals are different. Purchase the adapter but then verify/alter the wiring to the boat you are going to install the MFD.

    Al,
on the bar mounted mfd's, all you have to do is re-pin from 12 to 8 pin, or vice-versa. I've done it about 4 times, and haven't had any trouble.

I haven't messed with the older round mfds, so I don't know about those.
