'99 XP Limited forward rod busted my crankcase...how to weld?

Just like the title suggest, my Seadoo's lower case is busted and I'd like to think it can be fixed.

    Can the case be welded?

Is there a company I can send it too or should I replace the cases all together?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

While I am asking for help...

Does anyone know if it's possible to hybrid the 787 and 951 engines to improve reliability?

Thanks again for any information you can post!

i had a rod split the case and repaired it successfully with no issues.

First off take a nice thick bit of steel i used 18mm and drill the corresponding holes to line up with the case bolts.

bolt it up to your steel plate, and tig weld the split. i heated the whole thing up in an oven first and let it cool in an oven at a controlled temp.

any penetration that goes though can be cleaned up on the inside with a die grinder or dremell and then wet and dry sand paper.

if its a small split id say its repairable, but if its a wacking great hole just get a new case!

    Cheers

Depends on the severity of the damage. Posting up some good pics of it might get some opinions. There are threads on this topic if you haven't found them already. They might give you an idea.

If the rod damage is affecting the mating surfaces then you cannot fix it you will need to get another case.
