    Hooking a Virage i up to my laptop....

    So, i am trying to hook my 02 Virage to my laptop to do some EMM diagnostics. I made this cable as in K447's tutorial:

    So i went under the hood to try to find where to hook it up and man is the service manual confusing!

    In my ski, the 40 pin connector is to the back, not towards the front. Plus, i only see one connector that it could plug into, and it doesn't match the colors from the manual!!!... Also, I think i need to make the service power connector because i want to run diagnostics without running the ski. Where can i get this connector? Anyone have a part number on the 8 pin connector or have EMM Service Power Connector PN 2872456???

    Any help hooking this up would be great. I just want to make sure i plug it into the right plug!!! Pictures would be even cooler....

    Thanks Everyone, and I know K447 will be chiming in soon

    I though I had covered all this well enough, but let's try it this way.

    The 40-pin EMM connector does not get touched.

    The Service Power connector is simply a jumper, and you can use a simple U-shaped piece of #14 wire to do the same thing. Details can be found here;
    How to make the Ficht EMM Service Power jumper (PN 2872456)

    You separate the two halves of the diagnostic loop connector on the watercraft (only the White/Red wire loops through). Then each end mates with the matching connectors on your test cable.

    Yeah, that is the thread i read to make the cable. I don't know how i missed the thread about the power connector!

    When i had the EMM out i made sure to hang all the wires up there nicely. I guess i will have to cut the wire ties off and see where this diagnostics port is. I only see one 4 prong connector that matches the cable i made but for some reason, i didn't think the colors matched what the manual said on the wires.

    Thanks K. I will have another look. I can't wait to play around with this to find out what the problem is!!!

    Which is why Polaris made adapter cables for the laptop cable, which effectively has two Deutsch and 2 Weatherpack connectors..
