My HO done let me dowm :(
I went to take my last ride of the season and she wouldn't start right up. Prior, she'd been 100% reliable. After about a dozen or so cranks, she started, idled poorly for a few seconds, then died. Few cranks later, the same. Had to get another battery to run in parallel as mine was getting weak.
Then I got it started and immediately revved it up to around 1500rpm. Was able to hold her there for a couple minutes - sounded perfect. Let off on the idle and she stalled. I was able to repeat this a couple more times before giving up.
So, it starts hard and won't idle for more than a few seconds. If I catch it just right and rev it, it will run great. If it had a carb I'd say the idle circuit is plugged, but I know nothing about FI systems to know if the problem is even close.
It is a 2006 FX-HO. No mods, purely stock. Fresh gas, always treated with the marine version of stabil. I'm hoping someone here has seen this before and can offer some advise. Kind of a bummer, but being a Murphy, I expect this kind of crap luck. lol!
Thanks in advance!

Sounds just like they act when the map sensor is unpluged

Don't think the 06 has a specific map sensor. They have throttle & cam position sensors, also air temp, but no oxygen & knock sensors.
I would change the plugs for a start & take it from there. Have seen water in the fuel cause these symptoms. Blocked injector/s? Also check the air bypass motor hoses are on, although this would only give you a rough idle.

Sounds like something minor, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out.
Definitely try new set of plugs.
How many hours on it, and how often do you use it?

Plugs huh? Interesting. It gets about 25-30 hours a year - not a whole lot. She might have maybe 120 hours total. I will try some plugs - easy fix to try. Thanks!

I'll bet it's the plugs, these HO's don't like it when the plugs aren't clean...had sluggish issues with my 2008 FXHO this spring, new plugs fixed everything..
