    WC Porting Strikes Again!

    Hey everybody!

I recently got my 2001 GP1200R and 2004 GP1300R back from Kevin at West Coast Porting. Basically, I wanted my 1200 to have all of the safety and reliability mods done and then I turned Kevin loose on the 1300 - I wanted a monster.

What I got back was beyond any expectation I ever had. I'm still breaking the skis in, and the 1300 is still set to run pretty rich, not to mention I was running it at a higher elevation that usual (2100 feet, my typical stomping grounds are at about 0-500 feet). But last night, I had the 1300 up to 74.6 on my GPS. And that was at 6940rpm. Water temp was about 66 degrees, air temp was about 70 degrees. The thing is not even set up for top speed runs... and it's already scaring the crap out of me. Holeshot is so hard on the thing it tries to rip my arms out of their sockets... not to mention, the ski basically jumps out of the water if I give it full throttle from a stop. There was an Ultra 250X and an RXT out at the lake yesterday, we dragged a few times... there's no feeling like leaving two big 4-stroke musclecrafts in your wake while you're on a little 2-stroke.

The 1200 is still an absolute blast as well. And now it runs as if it were brand new... with quite a big improvement in the holeshot from the 1200 grate.

Mods to the 1300R and the 1200R are listed in my signature. I HIGHLY recommend Kevin if you have been bitten by the speed bug. He will turn your GPR in to an absolute monster. He knows GPRs inside and out, and will tailor your GPR to your specific needs and riding style. I feel like I have a ski custom built for me... from the ground up.

Here's one pic from the first test launch up by Kevin's shop... this was at about 5000 feet of elevation, and the 1300 still scared the crap out of me!

I will post more pics and videos as I can... I'm taking them out for an all day run at sea level on Saturday. I have some bets going with some friends that own RXP-Xs... I can't WAIT to see the looks on their faces. This should make for some fun videos!

    Once again... THANK YOU KEVIN!!!

    Thank you Abe, thanks WFO.

The controller is set at 9.5/10/9/6 which is way fat on a ported 1300. Your breakin should be done so we can lean it out. The 74.6 at 2100', 1/2 tank on the seat, 1200 grate and locked down and running very rich is a good sign. Call me Abe before you go back out and i will set your controller up, there is alot left on the table still.
    Thanks for the business.

I might have to buy a stainless 800 grate just so I can join the 80mph club!

Although... hey... with the way things are looking, maybe I could get there with the 1200 grate.

Having Kevin port my 1300 was the best thing I did on my 2stroke! It made the ski a completely different animal. Wait till it breaks in and you find the rite prop. Its a nast nasty motor.

It's Topaz Lake... it straddles the CA/NV border just a bit south of lake Tahoe. We basically pulled right of 395 and we were on the shore. Kinda cool.

Ski averaged 76.3 on a two way run at 430 feet of elevation. EFI at 7.5 - 10 - 7.5 - 6. 7240rpm. Mild chop. This thing certainly has more in it. Midrange power is absolutely unreal... holeshot is painful, but I think I might actually need a little more leading edge...
