What would you offer for this 01 XP as described ?

I went to look at one and walked away because it was never fogged.
compression 120 each, alittle low I think?
hull great shape, one nick without gell about 1/2 in dia.
starts with a shudder and idles rough.
when I started it a lot of water came out like it wasn't blown out after flushing.

My concern is the lower end
I'm told it was flushed and sprayed with WD after every ride and I believe that.
Low hours, (i'm told under 100 but not documented) a lot of sitting without fogging after ocean riding.

I would have to take the carbs appart and replace the fuel lines.
Not sure about the lower end or the top for that matter.

Opinions Please, how much to gamble on this one?

Compressions is low but not indicative of a serous problem (maybe) (ie:30psi) but there might just be some damage if it was running lean due to bad fuel lines and since its winter you can take your time and install a new top end, rebuild carbs, replace fuel lines, change wear ring and rebuild pump, all no biggies; Also I doubt he greased the carrier bearing and checked pumped oil regularly (keep that in mind) but my main concern is the crank bearings. If it was not maintained properly there may be rust on the bearings and you'll be looking at $$$+. I have an xpl and have changed most of the parts or in the process, parts are reasonable (ebay etc) except for the crank and mpem. Personally I would pay no more then $800 because I learned my lesson to buy only a used ski that was meticulously maintained. Worse case scenario if your crank bearings are rusted you can part the ski out and recover some of your money. Just my opinion after have "been there". If your smart you'll wait for me to sell my ski in the spring (will be fully rebuilt (pump, motor, carbs, starter, bendix, cables, etc) with documentation) but thats only if I end up with a FZR (50/50 chance).

My friends gsx limited (99) had 487 hard hours on it. Never opened up.... it had 100 psi in each hole. Not damage to anything, it was just worn out from riding.

as long as it s not destroyed on the inside the engine is probly ready to ride, with a carb cleaning.
