How many rings in a set?

I am going to re-ring my 98 gp1200. On the greenhulk OE store it says ring set for $67.00. Is this for all 6 rings or just 2? Seems like a high price for 2 rings.

    Thanks,
    Budman

When I have bought 2 stroke o/e yami, a set has been enough for 1 piston only...

Thanks, That seems like a steep price for two rings. Is there a better choice than OE rings. The engine is stock with the exception of a milled head.

    Hey there Budman

That is an insane price for a set of (two) piston rings..

You can get a Pro-X piston kit for around $80-85 and that includes a set of rings..!!

I'm almost certain a set of Rik rings will interchange with OEM pistons just fine..
(They (Rik) are what are supplied with Pro-X piston kits)
These Rik ring kits can be bought for around $20 a piston..
    Example:. http://www.atlanticjetsports.com/pis...g_-_yamaha.htm

If you're going to pull the motor apart to do this...
Then while you have the cylinder off, it would be a good idea to get the ports cleaned up/matched while you're at it..
The job Yamaha left from the factory is nothing short of disgraceful..

Another alternative would be to look into something like this.
    Here:. http://www.racelogic.com/whatissportport/

Someone who is confident/capable with power tools could do this fairly easily..!!

This added in with the raised compression head you already have, some basic carb re-jetting..
Your ski would be a completely different machine indeed..

I would think also if you need to do a set of rings the carbs will be in need of some luvin too..

    Something to think about..
