    My First 4TEC Service

    Just finished my 1st 4tec repair/service since coming over from the 2 stroke world. My friends 05 RXP cavitated badly and hit the rev limiter, needed an oil change and a supercharger rebuild. I removed the SC and had the local dealer perform the service(I know, should've had Jerry). They are reputable and the turn around was quick. Anyway, while the SC was out I replaced the bellows and carbon ring with OEM. I wasn't sure this was the cause of the cavitation, but while the SC was out, the money on the parts was well spent. I ran into a minor snag when my SBT wear ring and recon impeller came. The wear ring was too small, it fell into the pump and I was able to spin it by hand. It will be returned and was replaced with an OEM. The oil change was done with Amsoil and an OEM filter and I test rode the ski today. The cavitation is cured and this thing runs like a beast. It no longer hits the rev limiter, it does however max out at 7950rpm's. Is that right for the ski? Just checking.

    That sounds about right for a stock ski.

    No your Rs are down a tad..They should be at or right around 8100...NOW i dont know what your weather conditions are or temps..This could have something to do with it..OR You may need to tweek your prop some to acheive them RPMs

    Thanks for the input. The weather was calm, the air temp was about 68 and the fuel tank was 1/2 full(I am an optimist). I did take it out again this afternoon under similar conditions and reached 8000 rpms. The Seadoo dreamometer said 70mph. I am happy, and I'm sure my buddy will be, with that. I'm not going to begin tweeking the impeller to gain 100 r's. I just bought his brother in law's 2008 RXT-X and I don't want the RXP faster than my new ski.

    I can never get above 7800-7900 during the hot & humid summers down here in Florida. But at 68 degrees my RXT 215 is definitely coming in at 8100. I always wonder why everyone knocks the SeaDoo speedometer. Mine is always dead on when I compare it with GPS. Maybe I just got lucky.
