Using spout as exta line for intercooler

    Hi,

I'm currently installing my R&d pro limited intercooler together wit the engine/intercooler cooling kit.
The kit includes the R&d strainer with 2 outlets (one for the engine, one for the intercooler extra line) and they say to use the spout as the 3rd additional line to the oil cooler

As i won't be installing the extra line for engine cooling right now (I haven't received my 1/4 NPT tap to tap the cooling block), nor for the oil cooler, I was wondering if I could I use the spout outlet on the nozzle to water-feed my intercooler additional line.

As the spout is ok to feed the the oil cooler, it should be ok for the intercooler, right? Or is it mandatory that the extra line for the intercooler comes from the strainer (to reduce debris, sand, etc. going in)?

    Thanks

    L.

    Hi FZSSHO,

so there's no water pressure diferrence between the water coming from the strainer and the water coming from the spout right?
And no big concern regarding sand/debris going in?

My guess is that the water pressure from the visibility spout is lower than from a second pump feed, just based on diameter of the VS nozzle outlet hole.

I installed a filter kit on my dedicated IC feed line. Simple to add and if you later want to switch to a pump feed it'll still work. If you eventually go with the Riva adjustable nozzle to fine tune RPMs, you'll lose the visibility spout.

Jerry has the filter kits here: http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...oducts_id=1430

If I were you, I would install it properly. The water spout is smaller and will provide less water to your. Intercooler.

I don't think it will provide enough water. That is why they instruct us to use the dedicated line.

the pisser is lower water pressure than if you had a liner off of the pump strainer.
also if you are also using the oem water supply for the i.c. you might want to make the hole bigger on the 4 way. because it has a very small opening for the i.c. supply.
also consider a groco filter to get the sand a debree out of your water supply.

here is a pic of the r&d cooling kit with a groco filter for the i.c. line coming thru the hull.
i am using a single supply line, it is to give you an idea.
you could use this idea and keep the oem line if your intercooler has 2 supply lines.
also my i.c. cooling comes off of the pump strainer.
