I need your input
Several weeks ago, I had a buddy (who is clueless mechanically) who ingested a rock into the impeller and roasted my impeller and the "fins" proceeding the impeller.
There are some still there, but most of them broke off and are all jagged, no two of them are alike anymore.
I went and bought a PPG repitched solas 14/19.
Now my hole shot sucks, and my top speed is down a bit.My RPM's went from 8050-8100 down to 7800-7900.
Originally I thought that the impeller was the issue, it still might be all or part of the issue.
I got to thinking that the "fins" might be part of the equation as well. How critical are the fins proceeding the impeller? If some of these fins are missing or partly missing, what is the best course of action for the remaining fins?
I plan on sending the impeller back to PPG for a tweak, but before I do that I want to make sure that I eliminate the "fin" issue from the equation.

I have only a thought on those "shark teeth". They help with the water flow to the pump. Before 04, the pumps did not have them. So they are an upgrade, not a necessity. But if some of them are jagged, you might get some cavitation. My thought (hypothesis only) is that if you smooth out the jagged "teeth", you will be ok. This is only a guess.

If you are talking about the "shark teeth"in front of the impeller they are probably not that critical, but if they are broken and jagged they could interfer with a smooth flow into the pump. The RXT does not even have those. But if you are talking about the stator vanes which are behind the prop they redirect the flow or straighten it and could be causing some of the problems you are having.
If the stator vanes are damaged Impros does a good job of repairing them.

They are not the stator vanes, but the shark teeth in front.
At the end of the year, I think I will file the rest of these off and see what happens.
