    Welcome to the Hulk

What is wrong with the MFD you have now?

Are the digits simply faded and hard to read?
If so, it may be repairable.

    Welcome to Green Hulk !

As K447 mentioned, the MFD can be repaired-the instructions are linked to his signature ,along with alot of other usefull info.

The '98 SLTH ( MFD # 3280288 )seems to use an 8 pin connecter like many other MFD's,I think your SLT uses a block, to secure it to the hood.

There are alot of part #'s for the SLT mfd's with minor differences ,the 97 SLTX used studs on the back, but I'm pretty sure it still had the retaining tabs

Can you find any of these #'s 3280271-3280262-2873466-?
Make sure it has an 8 pin connecter.

When I install an MFD on my PWC,the trim does not display until I use the trim. So I think the standard SL mfd would work. 3280252. But the sticker will have the symbols for trim,if that matters to you.

HMMM, I checked those part #'s on e-bay and found this 3280271 mfd with compass for the 98-99 SLTX,it mounts to the hood like your SLTH,.
How does the back of your mfd and mfd retainer look ?

the MFD is completely blown , its in fact draining power from my battery, rusted through out(i bought the ski cheap and am fixing it up), yes it does use a block to secure it to the hood, cuase i remeber it being a ass to try and take out, but othere than that i couldn't say about the pins i will investigate this tonight find the product number, and get back to you guys, very helpfull cheers

What is loose? The MFD in the handlebar pad?

All MFD have one button on each side

Have you looked at the MFD link from my signature links?

The parts application and service manual I looked at, claimed it should have an 8 pin connecter as the standard SL mfd would.

The Mfd you have uses a 12 pin connecter, those are harder to find.It is possible to replace the MFD harness or connecter. Does it look like someone repaired the wires on your harness ?
