08 GTX Mods
I just purchased a 2008 GTX Limited
Iv done a lot of reading on this forum and a few other sites
and it seems like most people are after top speed.
For me stock top speed is plenty fast enough.
But what i want to get as good as possible
is the handling and holeshot
From what iv read the first mods im looking at are:
• RE OPAS block off
• Truing the intake grate (if required)
What else should i be looking at?
Whats the best mods for increasing holeshot?

installing an impeller is going to give you the best hole shot, acceleration and top speed

so there is an advantage to changing the prop even without other performance mods?

but, take it from me... the mods wont stop there...lol... before you know it you will be stg3 + and you'll be asking how to get to 80 mph! I say this because the begining of this season I traded my GTX for a RXP... I thought that i would be happy with a bone stock rxp's top speed...wrong...lol ... 2 weeks in i was at stage 1.5.....3 months later i was stage 3+ lol...
i guess what im saying is, if your going to upgrade stuff but it right the first time...EX RE/ riva pro block offs. NOT cheapy's...you'll figure it out... also maybe look at a 3 blade impeller....

Yea, if im going to do something it will be done right.
Eg if i decide i want more speed im going to go motec before changing boost etc
I dont like the usual fuel hacks eg messing with injectors / fuel pressure / hack controllers

Im in the same boat (no pun intended) as you. Im not looking to make the fastest ski out there...but i want one that turns awsome...
My current plan on my rxp (sorta in that order)
RD extended nozzle
riva pro sponsons
and if my wallet allows...Jims skegs on the ride plate...

I wouldnt install the RE Blockoffs just yet, I have an 07 GTX- Limited and I didnt have to install them until i installed the Riva plate and was doing 75+ mph, thats when i noticed they were needed because of the porposing. From what I understand your are nowhere there yet. Take it from me...I've done everything possible to my ski except going with the valve train and ECU upgrade to gain more speed. I've reached my platoe with this ride and its been 100% reliable. With all the mods that I have done on my ride I've only encountered two problems and thats: Ceramic washer failure and the inserts on the pump shoe pulling out. The GTX is a challenging platform to modify and make fast because its the heaviest but its fun. My recommendation is to do the freebies first and go from there but get ready because like it was mentioned before once the mod bug hits you you'll be wondering were did my paycheck go. Lol.... Good luck. If I can help you with anything along the way feel free to ask. I also have a couple of go fast parts that you could use when the time comes.

For handling opas blockoffs (the RE's)Worx intake grate and Worx sponsons! As for the blockoffs they come into there own when in rough water at speed as in the ski doesnt give you a sphincter moment every time the ski hooks back up and those bloody opas paddles dig in and give the ski a mind of its own .

Got a few more questions
1) The 2 deg wedges, do they improve handling? or cost handling in favour of speed?
2) Are sponsors are worth while upgrade? if so which are the best?
3) Which intake grate is best for flat water riding?

1) Better hole shot, will angle nozzle down 2 deg.
2) This is a subject of much debate, I use Rivas and I like them... to me they make the ski cut better in the water in different conditions, but the hard core racing guys favor the stock ones since their concern is going straight with less drag.
3) Rivas for flat water (Speed), Works for choppy waters.
