    Question Valve Train Upgrade??????????

Do you typically loose a little rpm doing the Riva valve train upgrade?

Only change I made was valve train upgrade. Only lost about 100 rpm. Was seeing 8380-8400 before. Today only 8260-8280. Could be the weather, little more humid today than last time out. Still ran 79.3. I need to pitch my prop anyway to get the rpm's up.

The Riva Kit places more tension on the valve train than say just the les cooke retainers. I have seen and heard this also. Your results sound about right.

I need a couple hundred more rpm, and I can join the 80+mph club.

More than likely just a weather condition change.

why does the les cooke valve train upgrade just the retainers? i'm going to be upgrading mine in a few months, so trying to figure out what is the best route to go.
