98 gtx water leak, wtf is this thing?
I have a water leak in the transom area from in all the areas circled... the pipes im sure just need some rtv to seal them off, but wtf is that plastic piece on the left? water is just streaming in thru there and it serves no obvious purpose at all to me... wtf is it and what should i do to fix it?

I believe that may be a plug for the pump support bracket where the vts rod passes through the support bracket on other models. It was not shown on the parts diagram, so not sure how it is secured.

I'm pretty sure that the large area circled in red is just a blank mold mark that is part of the pump support bracket. This is the area were back side on the VTS housing runs through the hull on equipped models, it may be leaking around the pump support bracket then leaking in the back side of all the through fittings. If I were you I'd pull the pump, yank the support plate off and re-seal everything..
