    1999 XP Limited...motor swap to the 787?

I'm currently rebuilding my the 951 in my 2000 GSX Millennium Edition.

I like the 951 for the heavy three seat GXS but I am wondering if I can, without changing the motor mounts, put a smaller 787/800 in to my 1999 XP Limited.

I think the 787 may be a better motor for reliability and I'd make the trade even though it be overall a slower Seadoo.

    What do ya think?

Thanks in advance for your reply,
    Johnny Glass

theres more to change than you think. you will have to change your pump also for a smaller one as well as the prop. you will also need the electronics too that will no work with your gauges. just go find an older ski like a 97-99XPL I think those are the years for the 787

I wish my 97 xp had a 951 sometimes. I hear they're really unreliable though.

Just the 97xp had the 787 in that hull. And yes, it would be ALOT more work than you think.

the 951 IS reliable. you just have to take care of it like anything else. just dont get the white 951 thats the unreliable one

I agree with Airborne, the 951 is a reliable motor. When well maintained, they run for a long time. I have one in a 99 gtxl that just needed a top end at around 250 hours. With rebuilt carbs, no grey fuel lines, premium fuel, good synthetic oil and regular maintenance they are reliable.

Use good 2 stroke oil and will run longer

If I had the money I would put a 4 tech motor in one. The one on youtube hauls ass. 80 or so. It is most likely allot of work and $$$.
