Exclamation 2011 sprag clutch with broken gear teeth!

Ok thats 4 of the new 2011 up dated sprag clutches with the teeth stripped off that I know of so far. Anybody else know of some that have broken the teeth off? Wonder how many more have failed that we don't get reports of on the forum? This might be a design/tooth hardness problem with the new design clutches since it has never happened (teeth breaking off the sprag clutch gear) in the past 3 years on older sho motors. Unless the sprag bearing was the weak part and now they have beefed up the sprag up and the next weakest link is the gear teeth it self! Just thinking to my self. I hope Yamaha gets this problem corrected befor the 2011 skis are sold to the public or they will have a lot of unhappy customers when this happens to there new ski with only a few hours on them. I may have missed some posts but has this happened to anyone running stock boost? The reason I ask is Yamaha will probably only address the problem if this happens on stock boost.

Well I am glad to hear they are addressing the problem. Maybe a newer 2011 clutch is in the works; I'm sure someone knows.

Yea its a really good thing for them they did a pre-release on these before production 2011 skis are sold.
My understanding is that the failed sprags have already been sent to Japan for failure analysis.

weird thing down here in the south and us being the only yamaha dealer for about 30 miles in any direction and all the Supercharged models we sold, We have yet to see one with a messed up clutch. Its not like we a big dealership either and i could have missed one or something cause we only have 2 employees.

I have yet to have a single complaint about any supercharged yamaha except for the one guy that even after explaining it three times and me bumping into him at the islands and showing him again still could not figure out the L mode and the Lock mode

Freds bar and grill down the street..
Im using the original style sprag again and it works great. Held 21 pounds of boost testing again today.
Just consider the sprag bearing a maintenance (replace) item every 20-25 hours on hi boost motors.
At 65.00 its the same cost as an oil change and new plugs..

As I said in the other thread Tommy, I have seen an old style sprage clutch toothless as grandpar. I spied it last week at Gary Watsons workskop.
