Yamaha xlt1200 d-plate temp sensor resistor

Hello fellow greenhulkers!! I need some help. I have a 2005 yami xlt 1200. Im going to install a d-plate and i know i need a 1k ohm resistor to fool the comp (if im wrong, please correct me). I need to know what amperage and material (ceramic etc..) for example, if i should use a 1k ohm 5 amp ceramic resistor etc etc... I have tried searching the forums with no luck...even tried calling sbt etc etc...please respond with your help. Thank you very much all!!

I`m not 100% sure, but I think the 1k ohm resistor is 1/2 watt. you can get these from radio shack and make the chip, or purchase the chip in the forum store...

also look in the faqs and questions part of this forum...
