    syphon tubes

Does your venturi have to have the syphon tubes in it? If they are not there what could happen?

if the siphon holes are not on the venturi then it wont siphon the water in your hull. you would also need to silicon the 2 holes on your pump shoe to keep water from going back through the siphon tubes.
I heard of ppl doing this mod to eliminate the air that goes out of the nozzle from the hull.

Water can come back in through there and get into your hull. I would use two penies with some silicone to keep that sealed.

My holes are still there but the plastic tubes that go in the holes are gone. Would it still work this way or do I need the plastic tubes?

It will not siphon at all ... instead it will force water backwards into your hull. With the siphon tubes setup it is all or nothing. Either keep it 100% stock, or eliminate it entirely, plug the holes in the venturi, in the pump housing, and the little plastic nipples in the hull (or loop hose securely between them) behind the VTS. Anything less and you will have water coming into the hull.

Thanks Vern. That's exaclty what happend. I bought an adjustable venturi from a member and the syphon holes were filled with glue. I drilled them out and made sure they were completely clear. I assumed this would work just fine. I did not realize how important the plastic tubes were.
