    Wetsuit

I am thinking of going jet ski year around and would like to hit the Ocean when I can. Willing to do a Catalina trip etc in the future.

Do I need a wetsuit? If so, whats the thickness? I will be riding a couch

Would a top only wetsuit and a ski pants (think snow) be enough? I will have gloves and boots.

I ride all year round going back and forth to Catalina on the weekends. I use dry suit with a neoprene mask. I works better than a wet suit.

Doesn't a drysuit in the summer get incredibly hot?

I mean only in the winter time. But there are light dry suits that can work for summer time.
You can wear very light under the suit or take the top part off when it gets hot.

It makes sense for sure. That's cool. I used to service DUI in San Diego (manufacturer of drysuits). There equipment was nice. I think they sold mostly to the government and local law enforcement/search and rescue outfits. Their suits average 3k each in price.

That is real cool, I know DUI dry suits. I picked up some military anti exposure flight suit on ebay under couple of hundred bucks. It works great and is very light and cool in summer. I use warm under suit in the winter. It works great. Check that out.
