    Modifying batwing plate

I just cut off the sides of the virage batwing plate to match my sl plate. The sl plate is about 7/8 inch longer than the batwing. Do I need to extend the plate longer? If so, How much would be idea? I know some of you out there has done this before.

I don't think anyone has ever added any material to the plate. Normally the shorter plates will provide slightly more nose lift and top speed.

I was a little concerned where the pump cone bolts are, If they would drag, because they are exposed now.

As long as the lowest points on the pump are above the water stream coming off the plate bottom lip, it will be fine.

These photos are from one of my Virages. Taken when I was cleaning Zebra mussels from the hull.
