    Question Head Gaskets????

Was reading Ocman(Eric)'s thread how he has pulled his head off and going to replace the head gasket got me to wondering. I probably will be doing mine soon and I would like to know what everyones opinion is. I know the Riva head stud kit is pretty much a must do, but what about the block guard? Or head gaskets. Go back with stock or the Riva? What is the best way to make it last as long as possible?

Im going to use the stock one and try the copper sealant that R88 suggested and torque to 95 this go around and Im thinking im not gonna use a block guard. IMO the Riva one does not appear to be any better. They should give me a free one since It was installed per instructions and still blew out.

IMO why pay for the riva as seems the track record is no better. I have been running OEM bolts and gasket (Cooper coated) with block gaurd.

I have done 6 head gasket changes all with OEM gaskets copper coat and stock stretch bolts(reused) torqued to spec and have never had a failure (yet). One has 60 hours @ 12 lb boost. Three have 20+ hours each @ 14 lb boost. All are using closed loop cooling. Two GPRXP's Three RXP's and one Polaris.

Apply several coats evenly. Let dry in between coats till is tacky.
just be sure when you put on block it is Where you want it as it sticks and if you have to move it will pull copper coat off gasket.
