    Mudbug MODS

I am planning on going to mudbug this year and I was wondering if I should install an open loop cooling before I go? Now would be the best time since it is FREEZING HERE IN MO...... I also had a problem with after I installed the new intercooler, but i havent put a wedge on yet. Any suggestions on how to stop this besides adding a wedge?

I think you forgot a word "I also had a problem with after I installed the new intercooler, but i havent put a wedge on yet."...I'm assuming you have porpoising now? You might consider switching to RE block-offs. The wedge will make it worse. Is it only when your fuel level is really low? What trim position? Do you have the VTS extension rod installed? Open loop will definitely help you keep your engine cooler at Mudbug. I've been in that swamp and boy is it hot.

LOL ya... I had a problem with **it** after I installed the intercooler.... It does it on full tank also just not as bad.. trim was all the way up as i was speed testing.. if i trim it down it would smooth out and i would loose speed, except on low fuel i could trim all the way down and it would still be bad. So you are suggesting RE blockoffs.... n e thing else... I have read about truing the hull but i dont know if mine is bad or not..

You should trim 1 or 2 down from the top for the best speed results. All I can think of at the moment is the RE block-offs. I suppose you could shim your intake grate slightly.

Why would you need open loop cooling to go to Mudbug?

Plenty of completey stock skis, not mention a butt load of modded skis running closed loop at MB.

dilute your coolant mix in hotter weather, the manual says its ok to do this. Always use distilled water and not tap water, since tap water has so much chlorine in it and as you know this is corrosive.

How ever you want to keep some antifreeze to keep your pump seals lubricated.

I run something like 30% antifreeze and 70% distilled water.

Don't try using the coolant additives, like Water Wetter or Engine ice, since these were only designed for vehicles.

I used to run open loop and went back to closed loop with a heat exchanger..These Engines seems to like this setup better than the open loop setup...

Yep. And he pulled me hard.

Probably (ha ha) won't be any better next year with his turbo setup...

A set of RE's are the answer to a Porpoising RXP. (Period)
