Angry How to remove old stubborn stickers?

I need to remove the old registration numbers off my GPR and they are very stubborn. I mean in 20 minutes I removed maybe 1/2 inch of one number. It just keeps breaking off into tiny pieces if I try peeling them off. I tried "Goo Gone" did nothing. Also tried using a box cutter knife to peel them off and only ended up scratching the hull. Any other options that are safe for the hull and will not damage the finish?

I concur on the heat gun...except no metal blades. Vary your heat over the area to avoid burning your hull and use a wood stick like a chop stick or the handle of one of your wifes kitchen spoons (sand the end down to a scrapper type end on one side).

Spray sticker with some WD40 let sit for 5 min
    Wipe area clean
Use heat gun, varying the heat over the area
Use wooden implement to pry up sticker and adhesive
Use Goo Gone to remove remaining adhesive

If it is still not working try this on your drill

Yes, the heat is not as intense, so it will just take longer.
