Rotery shaft removal
I have the clip off and using a big socket for a puller. The problem is how do I keep the shaft spinning?
I have the crank lifted up so it is not touching the brass gear. when I tighten the bolt on to the big socket it just spins. 657x

You need to bottom a nut out on the end of the bolt, on top of your removal tool. You hold the bolt with a wrench and use another wrench to tighten the lower nut. This will keep the shaft from spinning. Here's a little ghetto drawing to help you get a better visual.

Im sorry you would actually be loosening the nut once you thread it on.
