    Let's Talk Wet Pump Mod

I have searched and found a few things about the wet pump mod. Anybody done it and have real world numbers before and after? What lube did you replace the grease with? Does it have any effect on the life of the pump bearings? I know it's alot of questions, but how much new oil do you put in the pump? Thanks, TJCIN

It is quieter. Much much quieter. I used seadoo Jet pump oil. Same stuff I used to use on the older 2 strokes. I have seen a few lock up on the grease. It spins outward at 8000 rpm. I have had less breakdown in the past while using a wet pump. Reassemble the pump entirely. Everything except the anti-cav cone. Pour the oil into the housing and spin the prop and you will see the bubbles coming up and oil going down. Keep pouring in until it won't take anymore. I usually fill to the bottom of the lower O-ring and then place the anti-cav cone on and seal up. I do this so when you install the pump, there is always oil on the bearings. Some say 1 to 1.5 oz. I am a believer of a little more. 3+/-. This is my opinion. Others will drop in sooner or later. Hope this helps.

Here is what I use. Same stuff used in jet engines.

Thanks, what do you think a reasonable speed gain would be on an RXT X? All stock.

There are zero gains from doing this but your pump bearing will thank you

+2...no performance gains...also you only need no more than 2 ounces...any more than that and youll blow it out your sealsThe oil needs room to expand under heat and if you add to much it will expand right out of your pump..You can use any auomotive gear oil, i use mobile 1 synthetic gear oil.its about ten bucks for a bottle and will last you forever..

No more than 2 oz. Seadoo told me to fill it up. They said it would expand in the cone. I trust you guys more than them. I will pull it out and change it. Thanks

Pulled the pump again today. Pulled bearings etc. and clean up. I added 2 oz and sealed her back up. Thanks SNOMAN!!
When the pump goes, usually the motor follows suit.
