HOW TO: Repair your faded black plastics like rear grab bar
Here is a how to repair your faded black plastics such as a grab handle.
I bought my ski and the rear grab handle was no longer a nice black. It was white and splotchy looking. Just using thick silicone (Black Magic Tire Wet) helped a little (before pics was after using just the silicone) but didn't work. My friend Brett at JetTrendz stated to try a heat gun. So I decided to give it a shot.
I used a Wagner heat gun on the low setting and started working an area. Sure enough it started to turn black again. However some of the areas would turn white again. I found that if the area was coated with a silicone like Black Magic Tire Wet it would remain black. I continued the process and made the white faded splotch grab bar look new again!!
- Liberally wipe the area with a thick coat of Black Magic Tire Wet. Other silicones will probably work too.
- Use a heat gun on a low setting and slowly work an area.
- You will start to see it turning black again.
- Continue working the entire piece. Take your time and work it slow.
- Coat the entire area with a very heavy coat of the Tire Wet and let it sit over night. This step may not be needed but I did it anyway.

I use a benzomatic on all my quad/dirtbike plastics. Works very good.

Yep high heat without melting and no spray the heat brings out the natural oils in the plastic.
