98 1200 XL Impeller too big for housing: SEE PHOTOS

I got a remanufactured impeller from SBT to replace mine. The problem is when the housings are together the impeller doesn't have enough clearance to the housing.
Does this mean the remanufactured impeller was not machined right and is too big? If not, how do you fix this? What is the clearances on these things? Do you want the blade
to barely touch the housing? SEE 3 PHOTOS

Looks like the old impeller was hitting the wear ring. the old prop was more than likely Burnt. I cant tell by the photos but your wear ring might be seperating from the aluminum housing causing the impeller to hit the stainless steel wear ring. Also you may want to remove the pump cone to inspect the bearings for water in the grease.

The bearings were replaced by a local Yamaha shop that knew what they were doing. The old impeller actually looked pretty good. I just decided to get a reman from SBT because they were inexpensive. ??

The wear ring blisters due to differences of metals and corrosion taking place. Change it and you should me fine. They sell housing with plastic inserts, for you application I would recommend this.
