If you are running rear air I strongly recommend some sort of filter, I sold my prefilter but I regret it, If I still had it I would replace the filter element with SS window screen, the window screen is better flowing than this RED element. I sucked up some leaves not long ago due to not having a filter on my rear air. My biggest fear is a rodent getting inside there during the winter and becoming ground meat.

In the event any of the mentioned WOULD happen....I would be forced to replace the charger wheel with something bigger (which wouldn't be that bad of a thing ) and then clean my intercooler and piping from whatever it was that got injested.
THEN I would consider a prefilter or screen. Until then, my ski stays in my garage with a the intake opening covered and I don't loan out my ski...so I know whats happening with it when its outside of my garage.

The sacrifices some of us make for such little gain.....
After about 20 hrs of running without a filter, look at the SC blades, dirt caked on it I bet. Bugs, dirt, leaves & other things floating in the air get's sucked in pretty easily from that intake location, more so than water. Been there.. I would at least use 1 layer of screen, it won't restrict the flow enough for you to even notice

    Good Luck though
